Kicked Out of School

Nov-19-2007

Yeah, so I got kicked out of Cedar Hall today….

It was only for today. My first class I was watching my history video and because I had already seen it before I was just trying to brush up on the information. Well I am always fiddling with my hands, it is just something I do. So I had playdoh and I was  making faces with it. I made one I liked so I took out my phone to take a picture. Just as I took it Mr. G, the headmaster of the school, came around the corner and said: “Hey, Isaiah…”. I was really surprised and dropped my phone. He didn’t seem to care and started to ask me to do something and then asked “What are you doing?” I told him I was watching my history tape, and he said, “No I mean what were you doing just now?” So I told him I was taking a picture of the playdoh. He asked “Why?” and I didn’t know how to answer it so I was just like “Because… I liked it?” and he got really mad at me and thought that I had been trying to hide my phone and just told me to go home. I tried to explain that I was just taking a picture and wasn’t doing anything wrong, and he wouldn’t listen to me. So I came home and didn’t have school today.

Certificate of Authenticity

Nov-5-2007

While Ken, Hooper, Jeremy, Marybeth and I were at Taco Bell last night we came up with a brilliant idea. We should Sell Certificates of Authenticity. We could advertise and have people submit a form telling us what they want to certify and we could give them a Certificate of Authenticity. The only question was whether or not this would be legal, since it is possible that people would want things certified as something they really weren’t.

Homecoming

Oct-20-2007

So… I went to Riverdales Homecoming Dance last night… it was very interesting to say the least. They played very old music. like 1980’s type music. they played some techno. I danced…. very poorly. Although apparently I wasn’t too terrible because I was asked to dance by a girl. I very politely declined however, choosing instead to dance with Amanda. All in all it was ok. I enjoyed myself.

Dance

Oct-19-2007

I am going to the Riverdale Homecoming Dance tonight, I have never been to a dance before, and I don’t dance, so it should be very interesting. I am really looking forward to it. It should be very interesting.

So…

Oct-9-2007

I had a horrible week last week, like really horrible.

It all started on Saturday, on my way to work. I was driving down the road on my way to work, and I saw a buzzard eating a dead possum on the side of the road. Now there is nothing unusual about that, we live on a hill called “Buzzard Hill”, so I didn’t think anything of it. Well at the last minute this buzzard decided to take off, right in front of my car. I hit it a about 55 MPH and it shattered my windshield. So I was unhappy about that.

On Monday I had some errands to run after school, so I dropped Jonathan, Joshua, and Marybeth off with dad. On my way into town I noticed a flapping sound in the front of my car, so I stopped and looked at my tires to see if they were flat, but none of them were. I kept driving into town and it really started bothering me that I was hearing the flapping, so I stopped at a gas station to fill up my air. The first place I stopped at had a sign on their compressor saying “OUT OF ORDER” so I went to Wal-Mart and filled them up there. I checked the pressure and they all seemed fine, except for the front drivers side tire which was over inflated about 20 Psi. So I let the air out and continued on my way. About three quarters of the way home, my car started to really wobble and the flapping noise got louder. So I pulled over and looked at my tire, which had a big flap hanging off of the sidewall and was leaking air really bad. I jacked up the car and took the tire off and put the spare on. When I went to jack the car back down I realized that the spare was super low. But there was nothing I could do about it so I drove home, planning to fill it up at home.

When I got home I found out that Chris had our little air compressor and we didn’t have an air chuck for the bigger air compressor. So after looking around for one for a long time I finally gave up and decided to get air on the way into town. By the time we left however, I was already really late and decided to fill it up on the way home. When we got to John Bragg highway, I remembered a very important detail: I had forgotten to tighten the bolts on my spare tire. I pulled over got out and tightened them up. I got Marybeth to band practice and filled my tires on the way home.

On Wednesday I went to get a tire for my car. I went to Bud’s to get a used one and they told me they didn’t have any that size, but that there was a place across from the discovery center that sold used tires and would have one, but that it would be $5-10 more. So I went to the used tire shop, and found out that they didn’t have the right size either and that I would have to get a new one. So I went to Wal-Mart and bought a new tire, which ended up costing me $60 instead of the $20 I would have had to pay at Bud’s. I went out to my car and jacked it up and started to take the spare tire off. I got all the bolts off except for one, which would not come off no matter how hard I tried. I went back inside and asked for help. One of the mechanics came out to help, and told me that the bolt was probably crossthreaded as a result of my driving on the tire without tightening the lug nuts. At this point I was very frustrated, but he helped me get the nut off stripping both the lug bolt and the lug nut in the process. He then helped me put the new tire on and even torqued it to the right specifications for me, which I was very grateful for, but still very frustrated at the situation.

I opened up my trunk and threw the spare tire and the wrench inside a slammed the trunk shut. Then I went to go start the car and made a horrible discovery: I had thrown mt keys in the trunk with the tire. Now, my car has no trunk release, so while the doors were unlocked there is no way to get into the trunk without the keys. I called home because dad has spare keys to my car, but no one answered. I kept calling, but it was very obvious that dad was down in the barn, and would not have any idea that the phone was ringing. After about a half hour of unsuccessfully trying to locate a spare key, I decided to try to break into my trunk. I realized that the speakers in the rear shelf of my car are recessed into the trunk, so I might be able to unscrew one and get in through the hole. I ripped up the carpeting and the fiber board under the rear window and found four small holes. The holes were just barely large enough for me to fit my arm through if I really squeezed. I went back inside and asked the mechanics if they had a flashlight I could borrow. They said that they did but they would have to find it. So I waited until they found it and went back to my car. I shined the flashlight inside my trunk and all I could see were my backpack and my laptop case. so I had to stick my arm inside and move them around, which was very painful. once I had completed this I looked inside again and located my lanyard attached to my keys. The only problem was that they were just out of reach. I ended up having to jam my arm in the hole as far as I could and just barely caught the tip of my lanyard and pulled it out.

Then on Thursday I had an appointment to get my windshield fixed. The guy who was replacing it said he would be able to fix it while I was at school. He said he could just come right out and fix it on the spot. So I was waiting all day Thursday for him to show up but he never did. At around two thirty he called and asked if I could drive into town so he would not have to come out so far. We met at the Kroger parking lot and he replaced my windshield. It was actually pretty cool to watch, he jut pulled up the seal, cut away the caulk and pulled the windshield right out. Then he put a seal on the new windshield, put down some caulk and layed the new windshield down on it. It took about 15 minutes, and we talked the whole time. I asked him about his business, and he told me how he got into it and stuff like that. He was actually a pretty cool guy. But what wasn’t cool was the price. It was cheaper than anywhere else, but it was still $160.

So all in all I had a really crappy week that ended up with me spending around $220. :-(

Raise

Sep-23-2007

So after quitting Dairy Queen I picked up as many hours as I could at Jim n Nicks. I have been working Friday nights, Saturday days, and Saturday nights. I was working last Friday night and Z, the general manager, pulled me to the side and said “Isaac, [the name he calls me] how much do you make an hour?” I told him and he told me he was gonna give me a raise. He didn’t say how much, or give me any details, he just told me he was giving me one. Then on Saturday he told me how much of a raise he was giving me. It turned out to be almost two dollars an hour. I am super excited about it. He said it won’t take effect for another three to four weeks but I can’t complain.

I Quit

Sep-3-2007

I am no longer working at Dairy Queen. I went in on Friday to talk to the manager because I was scheduled to work at both Jim n Nicks and DQ on Saturday. So I told Stephanie I couldn’t work then, and I was scheduled to work Sunday as well, so I asked off for that too, because of church. She wasn’t very happy about that, and when I told her that I would really only be able to work on Monday nights, she said it wasn’t even worth it because Monday nights are an easy night to fill. So I turned in my stuff and am only working one job.

I can’t say I am really upset about it because I never really liked the way Dairy Queen worked, scheduling was a nightmare. They told you not to tell the managers when you needed off but instead to write a request form, which I did and almost always got scheduled anyway.  Oh well. I am making way more at Jim n Nicks anyways. That simply means that I will have a free night during the week.

Back

Aug-28-2007

I am back from New Hampshire. We got back last night.

I have a phone now… Finally.

School starts tomorrow… Not looking forward to it.

New Hampshire

Aug-22-2007

Well we have been in New Hampshire for three days now. We have gone to the beach every day. I am sunburnt, which is annoying. It is all over my back and makes sleeping very difficult. It doesn’t hurt until someone touches it. Today when we were at the beach we made a Sand-Mater. From the movie cars.

Our version Original Mater
