The Profound Words Of Amazinzay…

Scammed

Feb-3-2009

I think i almost got scammed today. I have been looking at getting a Jawbone II bluetooth headset which retails for about $120. I was looking online and found one at mrbdepot.com for $69.99. A good deal by all means. A quick google search found this commentsearch.com article which had many favorable things to say about it. I didn’t find anything negative although I searched for about two hours, being a very skeptical person. After not finding anything negative I decided to go ahead and purchase the headset. When I went to checkout, I selected the PayPal option, deciding it to be shrewd to hide my credit card info. My second clue that something was wrong (The first being the Too-Good-To-Be-True price) was the company name on the PayPal page said “Madeline Rose Boutique, LLC”. Now I am not one to judge, but most electronics retailers do not refer to themselves as boutiques. BUT I went ahead anyway because I hoped that I could still get the good deal. After entering my information into paypal, I proceeded back to the MRB Depot site, where I was told that an error had occurred. So I went back to my cart and clicked the paypal link again, thinking that a server error may have occurred and knowing that my PayPal transaction had not been fully approved, and therefore my money not been released. After re-entering my PayPal Password, I clicked continue and was taken back to the checkout page asking if I wanted to use my credit card, or checkout with PayPal. I choose PayPal once again and again it took me back. After realizing that it was not going to accept my PayPal payment, I decided to look for a good deal somewhere else. Lo and behold, I found one on Buy.com that was $74.99. I decided that the extra five dollars was worth the assurance that I was dealing with a legitimate site.

I bought 2 jawbone ear pieces from mrbdepot and wish I had seen this first, I made the purchase on 2/3/09 and today is 2/16/09 and I have not received my order, a tracking number and any response to the 2 emails I’ve left. This site mrbdepot s a scam – buyer beware!!!!

  2. L Bray Said,

The Jawbone 2 and mrbdepot were highly recommended by a friend. My order was confirmed 2/10/09. This is the evening of 2/26/09. I have not received my shipment, tracking information or any indication when I may expect it. My two inquiries have not been responded to. Looking at all the great comments about the service of mrbdepot, I’m sure something must have gone wrong. I need the product as my bluetooth has disintegrated and I can’t operate without one. If anyone is monitoring this PLEASE HELP.

Sorry for using this means to reach customer service. I know of no other means.

  3. admin Said,

Unfortunately, I am afraid that something has gone wrong, the site is a scam. My only suggestion is that you dispute the charges with your credit card company (you can contact your credit card company and they can give you more information on the process). Then go to NewEgg.com Jawbone 2 and purchase it from there. They are a very reputable site, and I can personally vouch for their legitimacy. Their price for the Jawbone is good and you can rest assured that it is not a scam.

  4. Randy Allen Said,

I’ve purchased and recieved two (2) Jawbone 2 headsets.(Lost the first one) The first one for $79. and the second for $69. both with no tax or shipping. (Using my Pay Pal account) My sister, after hearing what I paid for and recieved ordered and recieved one also. Me thinks you had problems your not aware of.

  5. Zac Said,

I purchased an xbox 360 elite system two weeks ago and still have not recieved a tracking number but the site has replied to my various emails. I researched the company and found this blog was hoping someone knew if they were legit or not. They have already charged my account, didnt know what I could do legally to solve this problem. Any Thoughts?

  6. Amazinzay Said,

Well, as I explained above, I was unhappy with the way their site would not let me use my paypal account so I never ordered from them. But I have two other people who have commented on here saying that they have not recieved their merchandise either. I would suggest asking mrbdepot for a refund, and if they refuse, call your credit card company. You can dispute the charges. The credit card company will charge back the amount to the site and they will have to explain why their charges are legitimate. If you never receive the merchandise you will win the dispute.

  7. TT Said,

I purchased a Jawbone II for the $69 and I received the merchandise along with a tracking number. Unfortunately the product doesn’t work. The light only comes on when it is being charged. I tried to hook it up to 3 different new cell phones thinking it was the wireless carrier but I realized it was the Jawbone II. I did 2 days worth of research only to have a broken item. I sent them a second email today so hopefully I will receive a response this time. Oh and I had 3 people attempt to hook it up so it wasn’t a user error….Sincerely broken hearted and ripped off

  8. rendanew Said,

BUYER BEWARE. I purchased an X-Box 360 Elite on Jan 18, 2009. On March 3rd my son said the hardware was having some problems and he was getting an error 74 and to contact support. We called support and found out that the unit had already been registered in someone else’s name. RED FLAG there. I asked my son to go get the paperwork that was with the box, he brought it to me and there is another 800 number saying to call them first for assistance. It turned out to be a company called EZK Liquidators. I spoke to a Mary Ann and she had asked me for my IN Ebay number, I told her I did not have one and her reply….you should?? I told Mary Ann that when I bought this item I thought it was BRAND NEW. She asked me for my email address and when I gave it to her she put me on hold. Mary Ann came back and said “you gave me wrong email address” I said ok and moved on from there. Mary Ann said I was out of warranty as of Feb 27th and would have to pay 69.99 to get the item repaired. I told her that was unacceptable as I thought this was a brand new console and had just found out it was used plus it was 5 days past their so called warranty couldn’t there be something done? I was put on Hold again. Mary Ann came back with 40 dollars. I told her I would like to speak with a supervisor, wouldn’t ya know they were all in a meeting and then her manager had to go to school. In the background another rep was yelling “he has to go to school after”……at this point I was very angry. I asked for the Owner and she said he was her manager and that he was in a meeting and then going to school!
I asked for his phone number and the address of the facility, she put me on hold and came back and said Hold on I will transfer you……..the phone went into a voicemail and said the box was full try again later and hung up. I tried for over an hour to call back and isn’t it funny I kept going straight to the same voicemail.
So I guess the moral of the story is be glad you never received the item because first it does not even come from MRB Depot, it ships from EZK and their customer service is null and void!!!

  9. eric Said,

i ordered a bluetooth set for my car on 3/5 its 3/12 i still dont have confirmation or shipment and company not responding to email looks like a scam

  10. Chuck Said,

I ordered 2 Motorola T505 Motorokr T505 Bluetooth in Car speakerphones. Item # MotT505. What I rec”d in the mail was ONE (1) Jabra sp700.
after sending back the Jabra I still have not received my order. paypal has not been able to help.

    Chuck

  11. Richard Said,

Yes, I just got a Jawbone II from them for $63.00. Charges and doesn’t work.

I sent them an email today, 4/7/2009 but don’t expect to get any satisfaction. I saw the item for about the same price on Newegg.com but there were comments to the effect that not all of the accessories were packaged.

I should have known something was off when I saw ‘Boutique’. What a fool I was.

    Stay away from this one.

    Richard

  12. Tom S Said,

I ordered a ‘jawbone II’ through Paypay. Order was comfirmed by MRB and PayPal. USPS prioty mail 3-5 day delivery.

After 7 days, I tried to contact MRB. They NEVER answered one e-mail.

I contacted PayPal, stating that seller would not respond to order inquiry.

5 days later received e-mail from PayPal my money has been refunded.

I have no idea how legite this company is, but would not go there again. I have been given no explaination.

(I also left a negative comment on their homepage, it was not posted. )

  13. Allan Said,

I had a very similar experience with MRB. In late March, we ordered a Nintendo DS from them. They immediately charged my PayPal account, but a month later we have no product or communication from them and they have failed to answer every inquiry. We’re in a PayPal dispute resolution process, but they’ve failed to answer PayPal, too.

The “CommentSearch” site they link to is a joke. If you check the “WhoIs” database, the owner’s e-mail is MadelineRoseBoutique@yahoo.com. Sound familiar?

  14. Carl Viesti Said,

I ordered a Jawbone II from MRB Depot on 4/17/09 and was supposed to receive it within 3-5 days. Today is 4/28/09 and I still have not received it. I paid for it by a credit card. It is impossible to contact the company bu either telephone or on their web site. Terrible service!

  15. John Said,

This site is fraudulent. I ordered a blue tooth and never got it. thank God for Pay Pal!!

  16. Steve Grove Said,

I wish I’d seen this page a week ago! I ordered a Jawbone II advertised at $57 with same-day priority shipping. Fortunately, I pulled a Virtual Account Number from CitiCard for the transaction. 8 days later, no tracking email. I called but I get a message saying no one is available. Nobody is answering emails either. I called the CC company and they are disputing the charge. They advised me to wait until 5-2 then feel free to purchase from another vendor. I hope someone from CT contacts the state Attorney General’s office about this scam company.

  17. Dan Said,

And yet another one gets bit. I ordered the Jawbone II on 4/15, got a response that money was received and I’d be contacted when item shipped. Today’s 4/30/09 and I just got done filing a dispute claim with PayPal.

In the future I will ALWAYS look for reputation BEFORE placing an order!
    Stay away from MRB Depot!

  18. j Said,

Purchased jawbone from mrb on 4/22. I too called and emailed and received no response. I phoned again today (5/1) and to my surprise, a rep came to the line. I was informed that the jawbones had been backordered and my order was being shipped today. I received a delivery confirmation later this evening. It’s being shipped via USPS and I should have my product in 3-5 days.

I phoned mrb daily for a week and got no answer. It seems that they only work on Friday’s. They didn’t tell me this but I assume this because I informed the rep that I was interested in ordering another jawbone after I receive the 1st one and ensure it works as advertised. The rep stated that the next order would not go out until next Friday (5/8). So again, it seems like they only work Friday’s.

I tried phoning mrb back because I needed to inquire on a few more questions but to no surprise, I could never get a rep to come on the line. If I don’t have my merchandise by Wed of next week, I’ll just dispute the transaction with paypal and receive a 100% refund. No biggie as long as I get all my money back. The price was really too good to be true. Go figure. The whole Madeline Rose thing is weird but I know that many companies use a standard pay account when they own multiple businesses so I’m not too weirded out by the whole name thing.

  19. michelle Said,

i ordered the jawbone II on 4/13, never received any notification that the item was backordered. i emailed them twice, no response. tried to find a phone number, nothing in the site (at that time). then i get an email notification from paypal with a tracking number. i’m thinking ok, at least it’s on its way. 3 days goes by, no bluetooth. 5 days goes by, still nothing. i go on mrb depot’s website to inquire yet again with them, turns out now they have a phone number but no one EVER answers and there wasn’t even a voicemail (again at the time). not only that but now the email address is no where to be found. a week passes and now i’m getting really agitated. i call USPS and ask what is going on, i have to wait 2 days for them to do anything (and of course no one from there calls me back either, i had to call them) to find out that the item wasn’t even brought to the post office for shipping!!!! i immediately contact mrb depot, which now has a voicemail since no one must work in that fraking place, and leave 2 messages. hunt through my email to find their address and send them an email as well. and oh look, they still haven’t answered.

fine then, i just set up a dispute with paypal. but i will NOT stop there. when i was checking around i found their site on reputable sights like google & c-net, their page that links to comment search didn’t publish my negative review, i plan on taking this to the next level, warning those major sites to remove mrb depot as a preferred site and set up warnings if at all possible. and also reporting them to the BBB as well as the comment search site for fraud. there are too many people that have had the same issue with this “company” we should all report them. i hope everyone here will take the little amount of time to do it, not just to prevent it from happening to other people, but also to show mrb depot what will happen if you mess with people, especially in this day and age.

DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM MRB DEPOT EVER!!!!

  20. Mike Said,

Same story here. Ordered the Jawbone on 4/25, never received tracking number as promised, and as of a few moments ago, the site now returns a “400 – Not found.” If it’s not back up tomorrow, I plan to do as Michelle said and contact Amex (my cc), the BBB in Wethersfield, CT and if necessary the CT state attorney general. Merchandise or not, I will never order from this outfit again. If you’ve not yet, DON’T!

  21. Ray Said,

    Ordering a Jawbone II.

I too had problems using PayPal. The order page kept asking for a phone number already entered and then added a second item to the total ordered. I ended up ordering 2 – I wanted one.

I attempted to cancel via email and tried to call – no voice mail just a message “no one is available to take your call.” Received email that the items had been shipped despite my email to cancel. Two Jawbone II arrived. The boxes were not new, the items had been used and were defective. Since I feel there is no way to contact MBR or safely return the items, I contacted Aliph who said they would consider an exchange.

I will not ever deal with this company again!

  22. Tiffany Said,

Just finished filing dispute against mrbdepot with Paypal for 3 Jawbones
ordered the end of April, but never received. Interesting to note that their website
now (5/14) states that they are currently not accepting any orders…

  24. Kona Said,

I purchased a Motorola T305 from this company and they sent me a used defective Alphi Jawbone. So I told them about it asked if they could send me what I ordered and pay to ship the wrong item back and the said “we dont do that” Im going to use Paypal for all my purchases online from now on.
    This Company Sucks!

  25. Dave Said,

I just purchased 2 Jawbone 1 Bluetooth headsets from Blutoothdeals.com

I did not read the above information until I had already purchased. I purcahsed them on 6/9/2009 and I received a tracking # that they were shipped 6/13. Customer service here is non existent, 1077 Silas Deane Hwy Wethersfield, CT,06109 is actually the UPS Store there. These guys are really shady….no response whatsoever via e-mail or their contact page. I called on the 17th to ask the guy where my order was and all of a sudden it sdays it was delivered on the 17th.

I talked to Steve, his number was provided on my bank statement. he was surprised I called 860-869-6911.

These products are recertified or refurbished, not brand new. I am charging my new jawbones as we speak and will post again if they work properly. If they do work, I guess the price and hassle/poor customer service is what you get.

    I paid $30 a piece.

  26. Dave Said,

Blutoothdeals.com SCAM, FRAUDS, RIP-OFF!!! Well, it is confirmed the 2 Jawbone headsets I received suck! 1. They are not ‘like new’ as ‘Steve’ claimed who happens to own Blutoothdeals.com The packaging is all banged up and the headsets have scratches. If they actually worked, I honestly would be okay with the condition of them…for $30 a piece…what a deal. BUT, the caller on the other end cannot hear anything, it sounds muffled. They claim to get defective headsets from Jawbones factory that do not make it out to stores, but are fixed. I called JAwbone and they said this is not true.

They are probably broken products that are returned, or he knows someone at Jawbone. DO NOT BUY FROM BLUTOOTHDEALS.COM SCAM SCAM SCAM I am reporting them to the BBB IN the state of CT and calling my bank to investigate, and the Police.

  27. kip Said,

they are a bunch of scammers! bought motorola s9 hd they sent something totally different – used i might add! no one returns phone calls or answer to emails!

  28. Kona Said,

Beware Beware. There must be something we can do about this company!
if anyone has any information on how we can take this company down, email me at konab808@yahoo.com

  29. Skip Said,

They all of a sudden now have a working phone #…860-706-7855

  30. Candy Said,

I wish I found this site before I ordered my bluetooth I just got it and they sent me an email with my order info. and they gave me a phone # for customer service and it turned out to be a doctors pager # I just ordered it 6/23/09 and they say 3 days for delivery guarantee from UPS and it’s 6/25/09 so I am waiting to see what happens. I will keep u updated.

  31. Ron Said,

Candy…call this # 860-706-7855… i found that doctor pager too. This company is very shady. And the rtackign # they send you does not show up untul the post office scans it. They sent me 2 defective headsets and I bitched and bitched, wrote a complaint to BBB and all of a sudden they are showing some customer service.

  32. Anthony Said,

After reading all your comments on MRB and blutoothdeals.com I figured if there’s only 30 dissatisfied people theres probably a lot more that got their item and were pretty happy. I went ahead and purchased a Jawbone2 and a Plantronics 925. I paid a little over a hundred bucks. I didn’t receive the tracking info email either, so I called the number on the order confirmation email (aka the doctor’s pager). Then I came back here and called the 860 area code (I live not too far from their ‘office’ actually). The people there were very helpful to me and got me my tracking info. 2 days later my box showed up with all my stuff clean and working. The bag was torn a little but thats it. Sorry you all had so much bad luck but it worked out for me!

  33. Paula Said,

WOW – wish I had seen this site before! Never got my bluetooth. They switched from MRBDepot.com – what a scam! They sent to emails stating it had been shipped – NO TRACKING NUMBER. How is the heck are these folks not prosecuted. I disputed with my bank who didn’t refund my 57.94 and put in a complaint with the CT BBB. This is absolute fraud. Sending to the CT police department for theft next.

  34. Paula Said,

The two companies they go by are rated by the BBB as an F and a D.

    Nice.

  35. Ryan Said,

Bought an elite 360 from them, after a day it quit working. Returned the item, asking for a refund. Has been over a month and NO refund at all, I used paypal, but they wont refund because i received the item (altho not in working order).

  36. David Said,

I, too, have had the same problem as you all with this so-called “business.” I wish I would’ve investigated this company and seen this site before I purchased a Jawbone 2 bluetooth for my brother’s b-day present. My brother received the device, and it did not work. We sent it back to the company, and they never credited our account. Spent $52.98 for the device. I will be reporting their company to the BBB as you all mention above. BEWARE – DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM BLUTOOTHDEALS.COM – THEY ARE A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!

  37. Very Angry Said,

I too was taken for a ride by the company called EZK Liquidators. At first, it appeared as though I was buying a Rockband unit from a real person. When I went through PayPal, I was paying a company called EZK Liquidators. I thought to myself, “No big deal, companies probably do this all of the time on here.”

When the unit arrived, it arrived damaged. The box was tore up, there were hols all over it, and I was not impressed. I removed the unit from the box, and the drum kit was completely broken in pieces, the guitar was damaged, and there was even “Inspected by Best Buy” tape all over the drum kit box inside.

So, EZK bought an Open Box item from Best Buy, and charged the full price as if I was buying a brand new unit. Better yet, the unit showed on the eBay listing as a brand new unit, and even had a picture of a beautiful new box!

I called and got the run around. At first, they wanted to ship me a replacement. I said, “No thanks.” They said I would have to pay a restocking fee. Once again, I argued that since the listing did not accurately describe the unit, I should not be charged a fee at all. They reluctantly sent me the UPS return label.

2 weeks later I called them up, with the proof of the received unit at their facility. At first, they told me they had only had it for one day, when they have had it for 3 days. They then stated that their receiving department is “backed up” and it will be a while before I receive my refund.

In a nutshell, I demanded he call the receiving department while we were on the phone. I was on hold for 25 minutes, and then finally, he got back on the phone and said my refund will be received by the end of the week.

I am currently waiting for my refund now. Hopefully it will come. If not, I’m calling them back, and then calling the BBB and whomever else I can notify of this companies horrible customer service.

I know most eBay vendors are not this bad, but I’ll never buy from eBay again.
