When we play night paintball, very few people are brave enough to go out into the woods. Most people bunker down and panic. When you aren't with a bunch of people it is even more difficult. I overcome it by remembering that people don't taste very good. Most animals will quit biting you after the first bite. The second thing I remember is that almost every animal will tell you they are there (growling, rattling, barking, etc.). Oh, and most people are afraid of the dark so they won't be outside. That means you are basically in the dark alone. Now the only thing to worry about is the thorns on the trees and the sudden falls. It is actually very normal.
